Fender Japan '54 Reissue Strat, pewter grey, made in Japan 1989. This is an absolute belter of a Strat, it's seriously very good indeed. The ST54-85LS model was the 1989 MIJ take on the famed Clapton signature Strat; although it doesn't bear his name, that's clearly the inspiration. That means you're getting a lot of good stuff: deluxe vintage bridge, alder body, soft-V profile one piece maple neck, an active mid-boost and a set of Lace Sensor Gold pickups. The tone is awesome: the Lace Sensors are articulate, dynamically responsive, warm and crystal-clear, and the mid-boost allows you to start at classic-Strat-spank and dial in extra fatness as the situation dictates. These 80s Fujigen examples of this model are brilliantly made; this will easily match the highly collectable American Standards or Strat Plus models from the famed first years of Corona USA production for precision, wood selection and mojo. Being a Clapton-ish model, Fender made a huge number of these in black... this pewter finish is extremely scarce. The grey has yellowed to a softer, almost gold colour; it's really looking quite delightful, especially against the aged plastics and golden-syrup maple board. This is a luxurious instrument, it's an absolute pleasure to play and certainly a sound for sore ears.

Model: Fender Stratocaster (ST54-95LS)
Made: Japan, neck date 16 Jan 1989, Fujigen plant (serial E942215)
Finish: pewter grey, 1-ply white guard
Body: alder
Neck: maple, maple board, soft-V profile, 7.25" radius
Weight: 3.400kg
Mods: switch replaced
Pickups: Lace Senor Gold single coils
Case: basic gig bag

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some minor dimples on the end, back and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, the back has some minor dimples and rub wear and the board has had the finish rubbed down to a matte look. The back has some dimples around the neck plate and cavity and some scuffs and dents along the back edge and belly carve. The sides have minor dimples on both horns, the elbow area and near the jack. The front has some dimples around the jack, behind the bridge and in the elbow area, as well as some standard light scuffs from play on the guard and horns from play. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Electronics tested and working properly. The frets appear recently dressed and levelled, so there's no major buzz issues, but there is some height missing, 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
