Fender '57 P, candy apple red, made in Japan 1995-6. This is a classic, plain and simple. Candy apple red always looks good, but with a few miles on the clock and paired with a tasty golden syrup board, it looks all the better. Most '57 style P basses have a wide 45mm nut; this one is a little slimmer: it measures up at 42mm like a '62 style P. That translates nicely in the hands: it's an easy player, super light in weight and quicker under the fingers than a regular 50s style P while maintaining some trademark P mild obstinance. The tone is very punchy indeed: heaps of tight, round low end and a growly midrange and a satisfying immediate attack. You can't really go wrong here, it's a little treasure.
