(ARCHIVE) Fender Japan '57 Precision Bass PB57-70US Sunburst 1998

Fender Precision, sunburst, crafted in Japan 1997-00. It's amazing how one little detail can totally elevate the look of an instrument.... the anodized gold guard on this really makes the 50s style two tone burst and the golden maple board pop perfectly. There's some other lovely details too: the neck shows off some very tight grain, so you know it's a great piece, plus the alder body has some nice subtle parallel figuring too. The neck on these '57 models is pretty big: 45mm at the nut and carved to a chunky D style shape, so if you're after a juicy neck that rewards some deliberate note choice, this will surely hit the spot. Plugged in, it's got heft: heaps of attack and weight in the low end, punchy growl in the mids and certain sweet sizzle on the top end courtesy of the maple board and USA pickup. Tasty P specimens are generally finding homes pretty quickly around here lately, but this one might take a little longer because it's ugly as sin. Oh, hang on... let's scroll through those pics one more time, shall we?
