Fender Jazz Bass, made in Japan 1997-00, lake placid blue with matching headstock. Dang... that's smooth. Lake placid wasn't a catalog option on this model in the late 90s, nor was a matching headstock. Certain stores would often order limited runs of particular finishes at the time, so this most likely belongs to one such adventure. The blue has aged subtly, and contrasted against the tort guard and dark streaky rosewood board it really does look sublime. The tone on deck is classic J goodness: thick and snappy with heaps of attack and roundness. The slim neck and lightweight body make for an easy player too, you really can't go wrong. Smooth as the ocean under the moon.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some dimples on the end, a very small chip on the front on the bottom edge near the Fender logo and some dimples on the bottom edge and back near the strap pin. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, there's a dent on the back on top edge near the 5th fret and some minor dimples and rub wear on the back but it's clean and smooth to play. The back has some scuffs on the top horn and some dimples on the bottom corner and bottom edge. The sides have dimples on the top horn and elbow area, a small chip and some scuffs near the jack and some dimples on the bottom horn. The front has some dimples near the jack and elbow area and some play wear on the guard and horns, nothing major. Overall: very good condition (7.5/10)

Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have some minor wear but are looking pretty good, 8/10 for fret life left. Set up with fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
