Fender '62 Precision, vintage white, made in Japan 1986-7. A well played white P bass: it radiates cool, right? This little belter dates to the mid eighties, not long after the first legendary JV serial instruments rolled off the line at the famed Fujigen Gakki plant. It's wonderfully put together. The neck is dead straight, features some gorgeous swirling grain on the maple and rich ochre and chocolate rosewood board and has that 'magic' feeling in the hands. The body is super light and springs to life at the lightest touch; it's a brilliant bass in the hands. Plugged in, the lightweight body adds a little extra immediacy and low end heft to the classic P-punch; it's got a big, hairy warm tone with plenty of complexity and attitude. There's a few marks and dings around the body; little tributes to all the songs it's played before. If you're after a night-after-night working bass or a perfect studio P, this little legend is surely up for some good times.
