Fender '62 Precision, made in Japan 1987, vintage white. The first Fender instruments ever made outside USA were the legendary Fender Japan JV serial guitars; these E serial examples were made at the famed Fujigen Gakki plant and followed very shortly afterwards. The quality of materials and workmanship is exemplary; this is an absolute cracker of a bass. The neck is a delight: moderate in profile, perfectly straight and blessed with some gorgeous concentric grain lines in the maple and a rich dark choc rosewood board. The body is lightweight and responds enthusiastically to the lightest touch; it feels great in the hands and is surely easy on the shoulders too. Tone-wise, this has plenty of brightness and definition to balance the thick, hefty punch and thumping low-end... P for perfect, right?
