Fender '62 Strat, sunburst, crafted in Japan 1996 approx. The sunburst Strat: name a more iconic guitar, I'll wait. This one is just back from a good old fashioned freshen-up from our house tech, so it's got some replaced pickups, new saddles and a full new set of electronics under the hood. It's sounding great: bright and clear with a chirpy treble, wide mids and an warm, plonky low end. The new guts lend a little extra clarity and sparkle to the pickups, which are a very similar set to the originals but made a couple of years later. The cream guard and dark rosewood slab fretboard complement the lightly worn sunburst finish beautifully, this definitely looks the part. The neck is pretty thick: it's a rounded C shape, but a decent bit fatter than many other sixties style Strats we've had through, so if you like a little beef, this is for you. If you've got a Strat-shaped hole in your collection, this one is surely going to fit right in.
