Fender '62 Strat, vintage white, crafted in Japan 1999-02. No-one famous or notable ever played a white Strat, so you'll be the first, right? This is a really enjoyable guitar. First up, at 3.2kg, it's very light for a Strat. Combined with the always agreeable 60s style vintage C neck, this is a very easy player indeed. The dark streaky rosewood has some intriguing streaky details in the grain, and paired with the creamy yellowed white finish and the classic headstock, this looks as classy as an overpriced cheese platter. I can't quite make a watertight scientific case for this, but here goes: as seems to be often the case, the lightweight body seems to translate to a little more oomph and immediacy on the low end when you plug this in. It's fat and punchy, with a detailed midrange and plenty of attack and eloquence. If you're going to buy a Strat, it may as well be a good one, right?
