Fender '62 Strat, special order blue burst finish with gold hardware, made in Japan 1989. This little legend has a big 'ORDER' stamp in the neck pocket, denoting this as part of a limited run in this seriously cool aesthetic. The finish is a semi-transparent dark blue, fading to black around the outside, with a classic crisp white guard and some defiantly shiny gold hardware. It's looks super classy; the almost-black-but-not is a dream with the dark rosewood board and the gold. The late 80s MIJ magic is there too: the neck feels incredible. The '62 profile is a slim, round C; effortless in the hands and smooth from three decades of play. It seems this has had a very tidy re-fret at some point as the frets are a little taller and wider than is typical in this era and model; they're in great shape and have years of life in them. The tone: oh yes, I like. Giant glassy treble with effortless sparkle and spank, balanced by a thick and punchy bottom end with a convincing immediacy in the attack. Under the hood you'll find vintage cloth wire and large deluxe pots, whether these are factory or a mod is unclear but it certainly adds to the clarity of the tone. There's a lot to love here! It's your little slice of moody midnight with golden moon in glorious Strat form.
