Fender Japan '62 Strat, trans pink, made in Japan 2007-10. These matching headstock, ash body versions of the '62 reissue Strat popped up briefly in the Fender Japan catalog in the late 00s and oh boy, what a party of a guitar it is. First up, the finish: the pink is so vibrant, it walks the line between charming and obnoxious perfectly. Paired with the pearl guard and matching headstock, it's a bold and fun take on the classic Strat curves. The neck is the classic slim sixties C shape that wins so many fans in the store, but it has twenty two frets and a more modern 10" radius, which is handy for quick movement and big bends. The ash body lends the tone a little more midrange focus, so this has a sweet growl when using the bridge pickup into a dirty amp. The neck pickup doles out that glassy, fat Strat-spank and cleans up beautifully. There's a lot of folks out there with a black Strat, you may as well dare to be different, right?
