Fender Tele, ocean turquoise, crafted in Japan 2002-4. Is this the best Fender Japan factory finish? There's some pretty strong rivals in capri orange, rebel yellow and burgundy mist metallic, but heck... ocean turquoise metallic is a worthy contender in my books. The rich green pairs perfectly with the mint guard and streaky rosewood board, it looks terrific. These 62 style models have a comfy vintage C shaped neck, which is neither super slim nor too fat and tends to make fast friends in the store. Combined with the classic simple hardware and a reasonably light body, this makes for an easy player. It's got a set of USA pickups and an alder body, a winning  recipe that delivers a chiming, expansive take on the classic Tele twang. There's a nice balance of shimmer and warmth, glassiness and weighty low end... it sounds great and loves a big open chord best of all. This is a very enjoyable guitar in the hands, it's just a shame about the way it looks... oh no, wait, it looks okay too.
