Fender '65 Mustang, California blue, crafted in Japan 1999-02. You see a lot of the standard MG69 Mustang around, but the '65 version like this are far less common. There's a few differences: the body is made of poplar instead of basswood, there's no belly carve, the neck has a wider Jaguar-style profile and the board is a slab-style big piece of rosewood. That all adds up to some extra brightness and zing to the unplugged sound, adding a little extra presence and definition in the tone. It's still got that punchy Mustang chime, but it's got a nice clarity to it. The faded blue finish looks superb; it's got sweet depth and life to it that'll continue to age gracefully. The combo of an aged pearl guard and streaky rosewood board make the blue pop perfectly. The short scale, slim neck, light body and cheeky trem make for an addictive player; it's a surefire new fav. There's a lot to love here; these never last long, so nab and embellish your life with some coastal charm.
