(ARCHIVE) Fender Japan '68 Reissue Strat Partscaster Sunburst 1999-02
- Description
- Guitarchives
Fender Strat partscaster, sunburst. This is going to sound strange in the description, but it plays brilliantly and sounds great. This is combined from the neck of a 1999-02 ST68-85TX, Fender Japan's 'Jimi' style model. The neck is beautifully played-in and has mellowed to a lovely golden brown, just like a delicious croissant. The body is a Squier body, the exact model is unknown but it looks pretty similar to the Vintage Modified Strat model to us. The bridge and pickups have been upgraded, so that lends the guitar a lot of sonic 'oomph' and tuning stability. The Texas Specials dial out a hot, scooped tone that's bang-on for blues and rock. It's definitely a 'partscaster', but from a few feet away it certainly looks the goods, and the feel and tone are both great. Grab a bargain and keep the story going!
Model: Fender '68 Reissue Stratocaster (ST68-85TX... sort of)
Made: Japan, 1999-02, Tokai plant (serial P045225); body likely made in Indonesia

Body: alder; best guess on model is Squier Vintage Modified Strat

Mods: neck and body combined, guard replaced, bridge replaced with Gotoh two-point tremolo system, pickups replaced

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's some little chips on the end and curved bottom of the headstock and a little wear around the edge of the board from play. The body is pretty clean, just a few little dimples here and there including some very light play wear on and around the guard and some very light buckle rash scratches on the back. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some wear but no major buzz issues, 6/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46s.
