Fender Mustang, yellow white, crafted in Japan 2002-04. Yellow white is one of those finishes that you don't know you love until you're looking at it; this has a delightful custardy charm. With a few miles on the clock and some aged chrome to match, this is dripping with offbeat cool. The 24" scale, slim neck, sensible tremolo and lightweight body make this is a brilliantly easy player, it's addictively effortless in the hands. A previous owner has gone to a bit of effort to add a Seymour Duncan JB to the bridge position, adding a whole stack of tonal possibilities. The neck pickup is classic Mustang: thick, plonky attack with a big round body and short sustain. The bridge pickup adds a whole bunch of growl, so you've got a heap of grit and bite available that loves a bit of gain and is perfect for punk rhythm parts. The switching still allows for that lo-fi 'out of phase' combo of singles, so you can really cover a lot of ground.  If you're equal parts cute and headstrong, this buttery delight will match your personality perfectly.

Model: Fender Mustang, '69 Reissue (MG69-65)
Made: Japan, Tokai plant, 202-04 (serial Q045532 MIJ)
Finish: yellow white (YWH), 3-ply tort guard
Body: basswood
Neck: maple with rosewood board, 24" scale, 7.25" radius
Mods: bridge pickup replaced, required some routing, bone nut installed
Pickups: Fender Japan MG Vintage single coil (neck), Seymour Duncan JB humbucker (bridge)
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's some very minor cracks in the lacquer around the neck pocket, as well as a couple of dents on the back edge near the strap pin and around from the knobs, as well as the start of some checking lines along the back and up from the switches. There's a bit of mottling/discolouration on the top and bottom horns and above the bridge on the front; just the high-contact areas. There's some light play scratching on and around the guard, a little chip on the volume knob and some mild pitting on the chrome plates (all parts working fine). Overall: good condition (7.5/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, intonation is good, neck is straight, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear, there's no major buzz issues and plenty of height to dress if need be; 6/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46s, ready to go!

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
