Fender Precision, olympic white, crafted in Japan 1999-02. I love these 1970 style P models, they're such cool basses. The formula is a good one: vintage style P, but with the bold CBS-era logos, a cool reverse tuxedo black-on-white guard and finish combo, rosewood slab fingerboard and a neck that's a comfy halfway in width between a regular Precision and a Jazz Bass. Add to that an alder body and a USA pickup under the hood, and it all just adds up perfectly. The body is light and very resonant, which translates to a lively feel and a big, beefy tone. There's a nice little hint of sweetness on the top end rounding out the thick, fast punch of the lows and mids. This one has a few marks around the place to show it's no case queen, which in my books only makes the olympic white finish more appealing. Dee Dee would be proud.

Model: Fender Precision Bass '70 Reissue, PB70-70US
Made: Japan, 1999-02, Dyna plant (serial P036581)

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some minor dimples on the end and top edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has a big yellow mark, which appears to some kind of overspray or paint mark but may just be rub wear, as well as widespread minor dimples and scuffs around the whole body. The sides have minor scuffs around the whole body and some dimples and marks in the elbow area and near the jack. The front has a 'chemical brothers' sticker fade mark up from the bridge, widespread light scuffs and rub wear around the bridge and elbow area and some dimples and play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets look great, minor wear only; 8/10 for life left. Set up with fresh 45/105s.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
