(ARCHIVE) Fender Japan '70 Precision Bass PB70-70US Olympic White 2000

Fender Precision, white, crafted in Japan 1999-02. I'm a longtime fan of these 1970 style P models, they're a really terrific bass. First up, it looks awesome: creamy white finish, tastefully decorated with sticker fade marks, yellowing and light scuffs from play, accented by the black guard and bold black logos. The neck has a 40mm nut, putting it halfway between a vintage style P and Jazz in terms of width and profile. The slightly slimmer neck and the lightweight body make for easy playing: it's intuitive and comfy and never makes you work too hard. The alder body and USA pickup make for a tasty tone: fat and full, rounded lows, clear through the treble, plenty of punch. These win a lot of friends in the store and seldom last long, guess why?

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some dimples on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, there's a small dent on the back near the nut and some scuffs from play on the back. The back has some notable sticker fade marks, dimples on the bottom horn and along the back edge and some dents in the middle of the body, nothing too nasty. The sides have some dimples on the top horn and elbow area and some scuffs and dents near the jack and on the bottom horn. The front has some dimples around the bridge, knobs and elbow area, a sticker fade mark in front of the bridge and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets look great, minor wear only; 8/10 for life left. Set up with fresh 45/105s.
