Fender Japan '71 Strat, candy apple red, crafted in Japan 1999-02. The big CBS-era headstock on this copped plenty of opinions in the 60s, but these days it's bold logos and heavy lines are widely accepted as awesome. Combines with a non-catalog candy apple red finish and a streaky rosewood board, you get a bold and loud looking Strat with plenty of sass. The ash body adds a certain fullness and warmth to the tone; there's plenty of classic Strat-spank but with a punch and body that's very pleasing indeed. The original Texas Special pickups have been switched for something a little lighter in output and more balanced in tone; they sound crispy clear with a nice glassy top end. The neck is a slightly chunky U-type shape, it's meaty and satisfying in the hands and works a treat. This is a no-nonsense good-times machine; it's a perfect little blend of good sense with a hearty wild streak.
