Fender '72 Strat, black on black, crafted in Japan 2002-4. The large CBS-style headstock on Strats like this caused plenty of controversy in the 60s and 70s, but these days, it's generally regarded to look cool. Paired with the always practical black-on-black with a streaky rosewood board, it's a tidy look with a nudge of attitude: you really can't put a foot wrong here. The neck is slim and super sturdy; a perfect companion as a main player and super easy to move around on. The USA pickups allow a little extra breath through the mids and treble to come through; they're articulate, juicy and definitely translate that classic Strat-spank we came here for. This would be equally at home earning real dollars at corporate gigs or sweating it out with the other all-black wearing nonconformists; it's a perfect gigging guitar.
