Fender '72 Strat, yellow white, made in Japan 1989-90. This little gem pre-dates the offical Yngwie Malmseteen signature model by a year or two, but it absolutely has all the hallmarks of his taste. First up: the board is scalloped by the factory. The scalloped board on this opens up some amazing possibilities: you can bend notes more cleanly and further without issues, easily bending two whole tones; plus the possibility for vibrato is greatly increased... you can apply vibrato to whole chords or single notes within chords with a squeeze of the fingers. It also cleans up your attack and allows for cleaner sliding around the neck. If you can get used to a lighter touch, this feels amazing in the hands. The premium bridge and factory Dimarzio pickups add up to a big, saucy Strat tone: heaps of punch and thump through the low end, sparkly clarity on the tops and an understated, nuanced midrange. The finish was once closer to a creamy hue, but it's yellowed to a real custardy yellow now; it looks superb. These come around very seldom in these parts, so if you've got an inner neo-classical maiden of shred waiting to peep out, this partystarter will surely draw it out.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has some minor marks on the end and bottom edge and some sticker fade marks on the back. The neck has minor dimples on the back only, no major marks. The back has some widespread fading and scuffs and a few dimples around the outside edge as well as a scratch on the top horn. The sides have minor dimples around the whole body. The front has minor scuffs and dimples and widespread finish fading around the body, as well as play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear but are pretty even with plenty of height left, 6/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners.
