Fender '72 Tele Custom, crafted in Japan 1997-00, refinished in satin white. The Tele Custom is one of those models with a whole stack of natural swagger. This one, like many others, started life out in the traditional black-on-black finish combo. A previous owner has refinished the body in a matte off white. It's a fairly tidy job, obviously intended to wear quickly to a relic look. The reverse tux look against the golden syrup maple board and headstock looks awesome; it's a cool balance of streetsmart attitude and upmarket slick. The neck is a slim and friendly affair; easy to play and lovely to behold. The combo of a Wide Range humbucker and the classic Tele bridge position single coil offer a little extra beef and gravy than the classic two-singles setup; it's a handy one-two punch and makes this a very effective option for punk and classic rock stuff. If you could wear a jacket with a heap of buttons and a big belt buckle on your pants while playing it to inflict the necessary wounds to take the look to the next level, that'd be a glorious thing.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has a couple of minor marks on the end. The neck is pretty clean, no major marks. The back has a few light marks along the top and bottom edges and near the neck plate, as well as a dent from before the refin. The sides have a few scuffs on both horns ad the top shoulder, as well as a scuff near the rear strap pin and some marks and scratches near the jack. The front is pretty clean: just some light scratches on both horns and the guard, some possibly deliberate scratch marks on the shoulder and light rub wear around the back edge. Overall: good condition (7.5/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets are in good shape with plenty of height, 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46s, tidy!

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
