Fender '72 Tele, off white blonde, made in Japan 1993-4. Aw heck... this one is nice. This is the seventies style take on the classic butterscotch Tele, so it's a lighter hue with a three-ply guard and the bold black logos. It looks crisp and classy, no doubt. The neck is a not-too-fat-nor-too-thin U-style shape, it sits comfortably in the hand and features some really beautiful grain patterns. The body rings enthusiastically under a light touch, you can feel the notes bouncing around against your chest while you play. The real magic here is in the tone... it's bright and snappy, but with a gorgeous richness through the mids and a plonky, rounded bass. Chords come to life with sparkling clarity and lead lines gain a certain expressive vocal-like quality; it's a satisfying thing to hear. These Fujigen made reissue models are really great instruments and certainly not getting cheaper or more common, so come see what all the fuss is about.
