Fender '72 Telecaster, natural gloss, made in Japan 1987-8. This one looks so good; it's got a real presence about it. These eighties era MIJ Teles are glorious creatures: exceptional build quality, beautiful wood, simple classic designs... what a time to be alive. This one has seen some stuff; check out that board! The body is covered with subtle checking lines and play wear; it's got a lot of stories to tell. The switch has been replaced with a four way, so you can run the pickups in series or parallel if you're into that; nice little textures to mess around with. The six saddle bridge makes for easy intonation too; it's a nice practical mod. The neck on this is a nice slim modern C type shape; it's well played in and feels magic in the hands. The black guard and bold logos really make the golden body and board pop visually; this looks great on the wall and will surely look even better on stage. Plugged in, this offers a warm and snappy take on the Tele twang; it's got a certain pluck to it that cuts through assertively but always sounds warm and inviting. It's been played and played for three decades plus now, seems a shame to break the tradition, right?
