Fender Boxer Series Strat, olympic white, made in Japan 1986-7. The Boxer guitars were Fender's 'modern feature' guitars in the mid 80s; later replaced by the Pro Feel series. There were medium scale options, HH Strats, things with Floyd Rose trems (yeah... except nah thanks) and this little handy friend. Being not a strict vintage reissue, you get some handy modern features like an HSS pickup setup, two knobs instead of three, satin finish neck and some handy block saddles, as well as the ever-80s reverse tuxedo styling. It all adds up nicely in the hands. The neck is a lovely piece of maple with some subtle flame and a really friendly combo of the slim round shape and the satin finish; it's too easy to play. The pickups offer the traditional spank on the neck and middle positions but the bridge HB breathes a little fire into the equation; there's a lot to like. These 80s era Fujigen-made Strats enjoy a great reputation, and with this in your hands, it's easy to understand why. Now, can you play Never Gonna Give You Up, or what?
