Fender Japan Jaguar Bass JAB Black 2005
Fender Jaguar Bass, black, crafted in Japan 2005. First up, this looks so slick. The offset body paired with the block inlays, tort guard, bold logos, abundance of chrome... it's a stunning item. Now, the obvious: this one has been pretty comprehensively modded. It's been routed for soapbar size pickups and had a set of Nordstrand 'Big Single' pickups installed, it's been re-wired to a passive setup, the bridge has been replaced with a Fender High Mass IV and the knobs and string tree have been changed. The work has been done to an excellent standard, it's absolutely immaculate and looking 'under the hood' everything is very tidy indeed. The tone on offer now is super convincing: it's got a fat, rounded take on the Jazz Bass style tone with a great balance of beefiness and definition. Nordstrand do great work, the detail and nuance on offer is very convincing. The neck is a slim profile as per a sixties style Jazz Bass, so it's slick and quick and never makes you work too hard. It's nice and light too, so that's handy if you're playing live again at some point... what a dream. So hey, it's heavily modded, but an all-original example would set you back a fair bit more cash, and the previous owner dropped some serious cash on deluxe parts... it's a bargain and a whole lot of fun.
