Fender Jaguar, white, made in Japan 1992-4. We've had plenty of Fender Japan Jaguars through the shop, and it's always cool to have them. We don't get many in white, and we don't get many from the pre-1996 Fuijgen era, so this one is a cool score. Fender Japan upped the production numbers of their offset models after 1997, when they switched factories to Dyna Gakki, on the back of the grunge movement bringing increased demand for Mustangs, Jaguars and Jazzmasters. Before that though, in the early-mid 90s, the JG66-85 Jaguar was a catalog model but never made in huge numbers. It's beautifully made: the neck is carved from top notch super tightly grained maple to a very comfy slim C, the body is resonant and comfortable and the fretwork and hardware are all very tidy. This one has obviously been played a lot and also had a bit of relic treatment applied to the finish, so it's got that beaten-up swagger to it. It looks great, surely this would be a perfect stage guitar. The tone is very good too: a strong fundamental note with naturally short sustain, heaps of clarity and kick in the attack, weighty low end with a piano-like clarity paired with chewy, snarly mids and an open sweet treble. Pair it with as many reverbs and fuzzes as you like, the clarity and definition will keep on shining through. This is extremely cool: surely we can all agree on that at least, even in 2024!

The front has a big bald patch with chipped edges along the top edge, bald patches on the top horn, back edge and near the jack, surface scratches near the tailpiece and widespread rub wear and scuffs around the whole body. It's fair to guess this one has been given a deliberate 'relic' treatment.
