Fender Japan Jazzmaster, refinished in natural, made in Japan 1992-3. Yep, it's modified, but heck: very cool, right? This started life as a standard Jazzmaster, but it's been totally customised by a previous owner in Japan. First, the original finish has been stripped and it's wearing a coat of thin natural satin, which is cool. It's been routed to accommodate two humbuckers and a middle single coil and had a custom guard cut to match. The switching is clever: the neck and bridge pickups are on the three way switch on the bottom horn, and both are splittable to either coil via the three way slider switches. You can turn on the middle single coil with the other slider, which would usually engage the rhythm circuit. Our in house tech added a master volume, as it was previously runnign straight to the jack. All that means you can get an insane amount of tones out of it: gnarly chunky humbucker growl, Strat in-between quacks, Tele-middle breathy zing... at least a dozen more too. The Bill Lawrence pickups are awesome, they're clear and rich with plenty of attack and oomph. The neck is a rounded C shape and feels comfy, and at 3.5kg this is a lightweight example of the model, so the whole thing just feels easy and fun in the hands. This one includes a cool Hiscox case. Are you the master of jazz, or what?
