Fender Japan Standard Strat, sunburst, made in Japan 2010-11. These J-craft Standards are awesome little guitars. The basic recipe is this: take a '62 style Strat, flatten out the radius, move the truss rod adjuster to the sensible headstock end, stick modern style tuners, make the neck a slick satin finish and add the 90s style logos, and in this case, switch the board to maple. It adds up beautifully in the hands: the neck is very quick in the hands; the satin finish feels awesome and the shape is a friendly little round number; it's effortless to play. The tone is a crisp, hi-fi take on the classic 'Strat spank'; it's got a nice understated tight bass and a slicing, defined treble. It really does sound and feel better than some Strats that fetch a lot more cash, which is fun. This one is very clean and the most recent and final iteration of the model, so you can score yourself a very clean example. Can't go wrong here!
