Fender Japan Standard Strat, black, made in Japan 2007-10. These J-craft Standards are such great guitars, there's a lot to like. The basic recipe is this: take a '62 style Strat, flatten out the radius, offer either maple or rosewood for the board, move the truss rod adjuster to the sensible headstock end, stick modern style tuners, make the neck a slick satin finish with a modern radius and add the 90s style logos. It adds up beautifully in the hands: the neck is very quick in the hands; the satin finish feels awesome and the shape is a friendly little round number; it's effortless to play. The tone is a crisp, hi-fi take on the classic 'Strat spank'; it's got a nice understated tight bass and a snappy, defined treble. The maple board feels great under the fingers, it adds a little extra zing through the top end of the tone and is a little harder to find on this model than the rosewood examples. The tuxedo finish is understated but effective, it hits those classic curves with class. So yes, lots to like indeed.
