Fender JG66 Jaguar, Zenkai mods, candy apple red with matching headstock, crafted in Japan 1998-00. Zenkai is the project of local luthier Alex Caffrey, who does the occasional custom build, mod job and a bunch of repairs around Hobart town. This is a cool CIJ JG66 Jag, but hot-rodded with some thoughtful bits and bobs. First up, it's got brand new frets and a freshly levelled fretboard with a 7.25" radius, plus a classy hand cut bone nut. There's some hardware upgrades: a set of white button tuners, a Mustang style gold bridge and a neck shim all help with feel, stability and resonance. The neck has been sanded back to a satin finish, which feels very agreeable indeed. The pickups were replaced with Fender USA Pure Vintage '65 Jaguar singles, and paired with some upgraded pots and wiring. The tone is thicker, stronger and clearer than a standard CIJ Jag. It's got a nice rounded low end and a breathy midrange, with the classic Jag-jangle outlining all your notes and chords with that iconic snappy clarity. The finish is looking awesome for a couple of decades of honest play wear... it's hard to beat a shiny red Jag for swagger. All the work is done for you, this one is ready to get the good times rolling!
