- Guitarchives
Fender Japan Standard Strat, made in Japan 1993/4, with relic job and upgrades. This one is a collaboration between us, Topshelf Instruments, and Jon Parsons Guitar Workshop (see www.jp-gw.com). This one came to us half-stripped and in bad shape, so Jon has gone to town and made her into the fly-honey you now see. It's had a full rewire with deluxe parts, so it's in great playing shape. The finish is a hand-rubbed relic sunburst, designed to wear quickly with play. It's seriously incredible to behold!
Model: Fender Japan Stratocaster, ST43
Made: Japan, 1993/94 (best estimate, serial O019076)
Finish: hand rubbed relic sunburst by JPGW
Body: poplar (possibly american basswood)
Neck: maple with rosewood board, dot inlays
Mods: Sprague Orange Drop Capacitor - .022uf, Switchcraft Mono 1/4" Jack Socket, CTS 250k potentiometer, full re-wire, refinish, new knobs
Pickup: original Fender Japan ST Vintage single coils
Case: none
Cosmetic condition notes: Deliberate relic finish wear. The finish itself is brand new, so there's no dings currently. The neck has some wear, the satin factory finish has aged naturally; along with the corrosion on the hardware, it all complements the new finish nicely. Overall: excellent relic condition.
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is very low, intonation is good. Frets have minor wear, there's plenty of life in them, 8/10. Recently been through a JPGW setup with 9/46 strings and playing with a whole lot of swagger.
