Fender MIJ Hybrid 60s Tele, sonic blue, made in Japan 2019. The Hybrid series brings together the classic styling of 50s and 60s guitars with some modern touches for added playability. Vintage stuff: you get a cool 60s colour, the spaghetti logo on the headstock, American Vintage '58 Tele pickups, a three saddle bridge and a rosewood slab fretboard. Modern stuff: it's got a flatter 9.8" radius, taller frets, satin finish on the neck, a four-way switch and locking tuners. Handy dandy, all in all. The neck feels slick in the hands and is a bit beefier than the earlier TL62 models; it's very playable. The series and parallel options on the switch make for a bit more tonal variation, which is fun. The best time can be had by running the bridge pickup straight into a edge-of-breakup tube amp... yep, that's gonna work just fine. The sonic blue finish looks as crisp as ever and pops perfectly against the mint guard and rosewood board, it's a vibrant and optimistic hue. That'll do nicely.
