Fender MIJ Traditional 70s Jazz Bass, California blue, made in Japan 2017. When I saw this, I had to buy it... it looks awesome, right? The combo of a bound maple board with block inlays looks awesome, and add in that sweet summery blue finish... oh boy, what a delight. These '75 style J models sound great: the ash body lends them some extra growl and snap through the midrange, so there's a great balance of clarity and punch that ensures your lines pop out in the mix perfectly. The neck is a sweet vintage U style shape, so it's slim enough to be fast but with enough meat on the bone to feel reassuring and solid in the hands. We generally get these through in natural and sunburst finishes, the blue is more unusual and certainly has a coastal cool to it. Can't go too wrong here!
