Fender MIJ Trad 70s Strat, surf green, made in Japan 2017. It's very green, and that is a lovely thing. This model replaced Fender Japan's long running ST72 offerings, so you get some fun 70s style appointments: big headstock, bold black CBS era logos, bullet truss rod, three ply guard, block saddles and a moderately chunky U-shaped neck. It feels great in the hands: the neck is kinda fat, but not huge, lending the guitar a solid feel without it being heavy or clunky, and the hardware is simple but holds tune nicely. Plugged in, you get plenty of slice and snap, with a gritty growl on the bridge pickup, a shimmery weight on the neck pickup and an abundance of quack and plonk on the in-between positions. The new version of this model only comes in a natural gloss in Aus, so if you're after a cool green chiller with the fun big headstock, here's your shot.
