Fender Mustang, made in USA 1977, sunburst. Cool, cool, cool. Here we have an original '77 Mustang in pretty dang great shape, basically all original and playing like a beast. This generation of Mustang got an ash body, so that adds a heap of midrange growl and top end brightness to the traditional Mustang punch. It's a really tasty tone: heaps of attack and jangle, a beefy and short natural bass and a snappy, sizzling top end. It's perfect for punk and grungy stuff, it belts out rhythm parts and stanky riffs with swagger and glee. The neck is slim and comfy, straight and stable with great frets... it's a tidy example and feels like an old friend straight away. At 3.4kg, this isn't really that much heavier than an MIJ reissue and it's lighter than a regular Strat or Tele; it'll make for a comfy and fun stage guitar. The sunburst finish has that certain 70s gaudiness to it; the back has a slightly squarer fade to the colours which looks super cool. It's remarkable to get an original Mustang of this age in this condition, as the finishes on these were thin and somewhat prone to dings and chips, so this one with a little splash of minor play wear is a tasty treat indeed. I really enjoy this guitar, I suspect you will too.
