Fender '57 P in classic tuxedo black and white, crafted in Japan 1997-00. It's hard to beat a classic, and the Precision Bass has got to be the most iconic bass of all time. The '57 model P with the maple board is a whole lot harder to get than the more common rosewood models, and gee it looks terrific. The maple board also lends a dollop of extra attack and brightness: notes are more defined, the response is quicker and it cuts through the mix a little more. It's a tone that works for a lot of styles, but it's absolutely perfect for punk; the growl, rumble and cut work together perfectly. The body is light and balanced and resonates fully with each note, and the round chunky neck is reassuring and familiar... it all just works perfectly in the hands. The white guard has aged to a classy cream colour, adding to the 'aged gracefully' feel. This is what a bass should be: simple and effective.

Model: Fender Precision Bass '57 Reissue, PB57-53
Made: Japan, 1997-00 (CIJ, serial O045260)
Finish: black, 1-ply white guard
Body: basswood
Neck: maple with maple board, dot inlays
Mods: none
Pickup: Fender Japan Vintage PB Single

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. There's a minor chip near the rear strap pin and some dents on the back, nothing nasty. There's a bit of clouding on the chrome, but it all works fine. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets look good, minor wear only, 7/10. Set up with fresh 45/105s.
