(ARCHIVE) Fender Precision Bass Wine Red 1978

- Guitarchives
Fender Precision Bass, wine red, made in USA 1978. This is cool example of a proper 70s P: hefty ash body, chunky neck, bold logos, thick tones. The wine red finish is awesome. It's faded to a rich red-brown (red wine jus?) and been blessed with a bunch of knocks and marks, so it has a certain air of streetsmart dignity. The neck is a fat one: round, wide and chunky, but arrow-straight with good frets after all these decades. The tone on offer is dark and fat, with a geneous low end oomph complemented by a growling midrange and a subtle snap on the top end. This is a cool thing and a pretty affordable way into genuine vintage territory.
