Fender Telecaster Blackout, black, made in Korea 2004. This was one of a couple of special edition Teles made briefly out of Korea; all with some interesting twists on the classic-T shape. First, you get a sleek, thinline carved mahogany body, complete with a skinny set neck... it's a very shreddable shape with great access up the neck. You also get jumbo frets, black hardware and a tidy matching black headstock... all adding to the sleek, modern, mean aesthetic. The stock pickups have been switched for a set of passive EMG humbuckers... they're very hot, but not as compressed and smooth as the active models; they're a nice practical hard-rock pickup. This is certainly a departure from the standard '52 Reissue Tele, but it plays like a beast, sounds massive and just might win a few fans with it's sleek shape. Plus, it's light as a feather!

Model: Fender Special Edition Telecaster Blackout HH
Made: Korea, 2004 (serial 04025214)
Finish: gloss black
Body: carved mahogany, slim profile with body contour
Neck: mahogany, set neck, slim modern C profile, rosewood board
Mods: pickups replaced
Weight: 3.0kg
Pickups: EMG passive humbuckers, not sure on exact models, high output
Case: basic non-original gig bag

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. There's a couple of dings behind and above the bridge and near the rear strap pin, as well as some minor scratches on the back. Looking pretty clean. Overall: excellent condition (8.5/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working fine. The frets are in good shape, very little wear; 9/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46s, playing smoothly!

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
