Fernandes FR-65 Revolver, pink, made in Japan 1987. What a fantastically gaudy little shred machine this is! Fernandes guitars have long enjoyed an excellent reputation for quality and innovation, and throughout the eighties they delivered some truly shredtastic offerings like this one. It's a superstrat style shape, but with a 7/8th style slightly smaller body for ease of movement and light weight. It's got a slim, sensibly round neck with 24 tall frets and a Floyd-style trem, and it's worrying easy to play... you'll be so busy shredding you might forget Wonderwall even exists. The electronics offer a simple 3-way switch and a single volume knob, as well as a split-switch that offers single coil tones from each pickup. The neck pickup is s stacked-style mini humbucker, which sounds like an aggressive take on the Strat neck pickup, and the bridge is a standard medium output humbucker. The tone is a little richer and juicier than other superstrats I've tried, there's a certain grind to the midrange that adds some presence and growl sometimes missing in guitars in this genre. Now, that finish... heck, it's too cool, right? The matching headstock and black hardware only serve to increase the effect. It's unapologetically out to party, no question.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some scuffs and dimples on the end and edges, no major marks. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and scuffs on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs and marks and some oxidation on the neck plate, no major marks. The sides have no major marks, just light scuffs around the whole body. The front has widespread dimples and light scuffs, but no major marks. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. The frets have just been freshly levelled, dressed and polished, so they're in great shape now, 8/10 for fret life left. All electrics tested and working properly. Setup with fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings in drop C tuning.
