Fernandes JG65S, pearl blue, made in Taiwan 1999. This is so cool. Fernandes guitars have done very well in Japan for several decades now; they're an innovative company with a great history. This features one of their signature innovations: the Sustainer pickup. Basically, the neck pickup uses an electromagnet to feed more movement back to the strings when activated via the switch, so you get endless sustain and easy feedback. It's a lot of fun to play; there's a whole heap of big crunchy tones on deck with or without the Sustainer engaged. This has the classic Jag/JM style shape, but unlike the vintage style Fenders, it's got a sensible Strat-type two point tremolo bridge, easy 3-way electronics and slim neck with a fairly flat radius; perfect for faster playing and vey comfy. The finish was originally a pearlescent royal blue, but a couple of decades on the clock have seen it yellow to a terrific oceanic deep turquoise. The yellowing and fading isn't quite even, so it has a lovely rich depth to it and pops perfectly against the cream pearl guard and pickups. There's a lot to love here; it's a quick playing, lightweight, beefy sounding partystarter in a gorgeous slick shape.
