Fernandes ST-40 Strat style, candy apple red, made in Japan around 1987. This is a cool little guitar, no doubt! It's in the 'super Strat' genre, but without going too deep into shredsville. You get a smooth two point tremolo, a pair of moderate output humbuckers and a flat radius board with jumbo frets, but the neck is a sensible 60s style slim round profile and the classic curves are all still in play. It sounds awesome plugged in: heaps of grunt when cranked or an eloquent, understated chime when dialled back. The neck feels great, it's super easy to move around on and has a certain intuitive charm. The black-on-red styling has that classic late 80s aesthetic to it without being too gaudy; it really pops on the wall and will surely look even better in full flight. Fernandes stuff still flies a little under the radar outside Japan, so you get a huge amount of guitar for your dollar; this rips.
