Fernandes BSV-70, purple sparkle burst, made in Japan around 1988. Well, what to say? Here we have possibly the most late-80s guitar ever made: it's a sparkly flying V, short scale, flat shreddable radius board with big tall frets, hefty humbuckers... my hair is growing bigger and bigger just thinking about it. It needed a bit of TLC on arrival, so it's had an electrical once-over, a new set of pickups and a bunch of bits replaced on the bridge. It's a fast player now: easy to move around on, easy to do big nasty bends on, easy to do big nasty dive bombs on... good fun. The finish looks awesome; it's certainly not meek and mild but it's gonna look absolutely superb on stage. The pickups are great too: heaps of beefy bass, snappy treble, mids as thick as thieves... perfect for meaty riffs and jugg-juggs. By this stage you already either love or hate this, so hey, if you love it, annoy your friends with this obnoxious little piece of 80s excess.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has minor scuffs on the end. The neck has a few chips along the sides as per pics, as well as minor dimples on the back; it's still smooth in the hands. The back has a bunch of scuffs around the edges and a scratch near the electronics cavity. At some point, some smart character started cutting the top horn off with a saw, but they thought better of it before finishing, so there's a gap where they started cutting. The sides have a few scuffs and dimples around the whole body and a little chip in the bottom corner. The front is pretty tidy, just a few pock marks near the 'cut' line, scuffs around the edges and some light scratches near the knobs and switch. Overall: good condition (6.5/10).
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. All electrics tested and working properly. Setup with fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
