G&L SC-2, made in USA 1983, black. G&L stands for 'George and Leo' and was Leo Fender's third and final guitar making company, launched in 1980 with longtime collaborator George Fullerton. The SC-2 was the pre-cursor to the long-running ASAT models; it was a very early offering from G&L and the first to feature the superb MFD single coil pickups. It looks and feels a bit like a Mustang, but it's got a high mass hardtail bridge and a long 25.5" scale. The neck is a slim 'modern C' type profile made from a lovely piece of rock maple, it feels awesome in the hands. Note the repair to the board as pictured and described in the condition notes. The tone on offer is awesome. It's roughly in the ballpark of a Telecaster, with a big juicy twang and heaps of presence and cut, but with more body and bass on deck. that makes the neck pickup especially really satisfying, it's got a sweet mix of punch and sparkle. These early G&Ls are all starting to turn forty and slip into the proper-vintage category, so I'd be willing to wager this is a very safe investment. That aside, it's a terrific guitar that's surely made for the stage, it's heaps of fun!

The neck is clean and smooth in the hands with minor dimples on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs and surface scratches but no major marks. The sides have scuffs and dimples around the whole body. The front is similar, surface scuffs and dimples around the whole body but no major marks. Overall: good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets appear to be original, they're in pretty good shape with heaps of height left, 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
