Gibson LP Studio, gloss black with gold hardware, made in USA 1997. Here we have a proper rock and roll guitar. The LP Studio underwent a series of transformations over the years; these 1990-8 models are some of best ones going around. You get an unchambered mahogany body, slim 60s neck with the cool trapezoid inlays and the tasty 490 humbuckers, plus at that point in time Gibson's quality control was functioning well, so this is nicely put together. The body is on the lighter side for a solid hunk of mahogany; it delivers a nice bright and lively take on the classic LP crunch. The neck has plenty of miles on it: the back has worn from gloss to a well played satin look and feels silky smooth. The finish has a heap of scuffs, checking and other natural wear; the combination of the worn black and worn gold hardware looks super appealing; it's not 'too shiny'. This is how a Gibson should be: solid in the hands, reassuring to play, massive crunchy tone... yum.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has some marks on the end and scuffs on the front around the pegs. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, just some minor dimples and scuffing on the back. The back has some widespread scuffs and surface scratches as well as a sticker fade mark; nothing nasty though. The sides have a bunch minor dimples and scuffs extending around the whole body, no major marks though. The front is similar; there's a bunch of dimples near the knobs, behind the bridge and on the shoulder, a chip on the top edge up from the bridge, and some widespread scuffs, checking lines coming off the back edge and light play scratches. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for life left. No headstock breaks! Setup with fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
