Gibson LP Studio with P90s, matte black, made in USA 2010. This is cool, right? First up, it looks great. The matte black finish is super thin, so it's worn through in a bunch of places and glossed up in others; it's got a real played in kinda look to it. Paired with the cream pickups and guard, it has a certain no-nonsense attitude that's half ritz, half scunge. Les Pauls always sound great with P90s, and this is no exception. There's a lovely slicing, crystal clear treble and a breathing, lively midrange you don't really get from a humbucker. Plus the natural dynamics come through more too, so there's a heap of punch and attack on deck. Into a dirty amp, playing big rhythm parts is an instant party; it's so fun. The neck is a comfy slim 60s shape and the body is nice and light, so it's never a wrestle to play. All in all: it just radiates swagger, it's got the Jack Sparrow thing going on.

The back has a bald patch in the middle as well as widespread dimples and scuffs. The sides have dimples and scuffs around the whole body, as well as some rub wear around the edges; nothing nasty. The front is pretty clean, just widespread dimples, rub wear, light scuffs and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have a little wear, but there's heaps of life in them and they're pretty even, 7/10 for fret life left. No headstock breaks. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
