(ARCHIVE) Gibson SG Classic Faded Worn Cherry 2011
- Description
- Guitarchives
Gibson SG Classic Faded, made in USA in 2011, worn cherry. SG stands for 'solid guitar', it debuted in 1961 to immediate acclaim, and this one came out precisely 50 years later to celebrate the charms of the simpler SG Special model. Cherry always looks 'right' on an SG, and this one packs a satin nitro finish which really looks excellent. The finish is very thin, so the wood breathes nicely, allowing for a rich and articulate tone. The finish is currently in good shape, but with some extensive play, it'll wear quickly to a naturally worn look; that's when the magic really kicks in. The P90s do exactly what supposed to: snarl, growl, scream and yell, all with a great balance between warmth and definition... it's perilously easy to fall in love with the tone. These were a limited edition model made for a US online retailer, so there's not a whole lot of them around; don't expect this to hang around long!

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. There'a a couple of long scratches on the back including on the electronics cover, a couple of very minor dents near the input jack, and a handful of negligible marks around the body; really not much to note. There's some glossing of the back of the neck and some guard scratches from play. Overall: excellent condition (9/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good. Frets have very little wear, 8.5/10. All electronics tested and working properly. Setup with fresh 11/49 strings. What a killer!
