Gibson SG Junior, made in USA 2006, yellow. Here's a very special little drop of sunshine for you. Occasionally, Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano would order special runs of guitars. Yamano-ordered Gibson models are famed for better quality control than regular models, as guitars had to be perfect to cut the mustard in the Japanese market; this certainly reinforces that notion as it's beautifully put together. This particular creation was part of a 2006 short series of late-60s style SG Juniors in three limited colours: yellow, blue and pink. The yellow looks superb, it's seriously vibrant and bright without looking too shiny or cheap; it's really something pretty different. The neck is moderate in profile, it;s easy to move around on and is weighted nicely against the body so it doesn't 'dive' with a strap attached. The body is super light and amazingly resonant, you can really feel the notes pulsing through it as you play. The single P-90 dials out exactly what we came for: thick, juicy, creamy mids and lows with a punchy, open treble... the perfect mix of eloquence and swagger. This comes in a pretty handy SKB case. Check out the matching pink SG too. This rules!
