Gibson SG Special, made in USA 2012, limited edition Ferrari red. I would've been pretty excited if this came up and it has either the awesome Dirty Fingers pickups or a Ferrari red finish, but to get both... dang, what a party of a guitar! First up, the finish: it's a solid colour, similar in hue to Fender's Dakota or Fiesta red, but a bit more vibrant... like a Ferrari, I guess you could say. It's got a bunch of subtle checking lines and a bit of honest play wear and is looking absolutely magnificent. Now, those pickups: holy heck, what a time. The DFs are my favourite Gibson production model humbucker. They're a ceramic magnet packing heaps of output, so they're certainly hot. But, it's the liveliness through the top end that really makes them fun. This is wildly expressive and articulate, you can get huge beefy bass response or screaming highs, all filled out by a midrange bursting with harmonics and sustain. I didn't even bother to really check how well they cleaned up, I was having too much fun with a crunchy Marshall-style amp to remember. At 3kg it's light as a feather, but somehow still very well balanced in the hands. It's responsive and loud unplugged too, so you can feel straight up that it's a good one. These come up approximately never in this neighbourhood, so buy yourself a new stage outfit to match and make this your very entertaining new buddy.

The back has checking lines over the whole body, as well as some dimples on both horns, as well as some widespread minor scuffs around the whole body. The sides have some rub wear in the elbow area and some dimples near the rear strap pin and near the jack. The front has widespread but light finish checking, as well as dimples near the knobs and along the back edge and some standard play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10).
