Greco Boogie BG-600 Metallic Red 1989
Greco BG-600 Boogie, red, made in Japan 1989. Ah... Japan in the 80s, what a time to be alive. The Boogie model popped up briefly in the Greco catalog and is all sorts of weird and wonderful fun. It's a little bit Strat: three single coils, slim neck belly carve. It's a little bit Tele: string through body with a hardtail bridge, three way switch. It's a bit offset: the body is offset, anyway. It's even a little bit shred, with a reverse headstock, a pretty flat fretboard and a quick slim neck. It makes a surprising amount of sense in the hands: light, resonant, plays fast... it's a lot of fun. The second tone control blends the middle pickup in and out, so you can get Tele-middle tones or Strat-ish sounds by playing around with the options. It's clean, fat and full, with a shimmery top end and a punchy bass. The red and white is a classic combo too, it's very speedy. 'Yessir, I can boogie.'
