Greco CEG-100 in snow white finish, made in Japan 2010. At the risk o stating the obvious, this is one of Greco's Les Paul Custom style models. The more recent Greco models are brilliantly built; the quality of the finish and build is very clear when this is in your hands. The body is chambered, so it's not nearly as heavy as a lot of LP Custom style models... a welcome relief on one's back! The 'Screamin' pickups are PAF-voiced: not too hot, nice full midrange, creamy breakup... this really does sound excellent. Each switch position offers a different but very agreeable tone: the neck is thick and full but with great definition and attack, the bridge is searing and crunchy without being too harsh, the middle is balanced and tight without being too vague. The neck has a bit of meat to it, it's nicely rounded and especially conducive to expansive rhythm playing. The finish would've originally been very bright and shiny, it's yellowed significantly to a tasty buttery cream colour with some aged gold hardware to match. If you're after an exceptional LP Custom without sinking several thousand on a 'hopefully good' Gibson, grab this and win the game.

Model: Greco CEG-100
Made: Japan, 2010 approx (A003819)
Finish: snow white, cream/black double binding
Neck: mahogany, rosewood board, moderate 50s style profile
Body: mahogany
Weight: 4.1kg approx
Mods: switch surround, strap pins and knobs replaced
Pickups: original Greco 'Screamin' PAF-style humbuckers
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. There's some chips along the edge of the back as pictured in the close-ups, one on the top edge and one between the strap pin and jack. Aside from those, it's just minor dimples really, a couple on the end of the headstock and a couple on the back. The neck pickup surround (just the plastic bit) is cracked, but the pickup is till sitting steady where it ought and is still adjustable. There's some proper corrosion on the pickup covers and truss rod adjuster, but it still works like a charm. Overall: good condition (7.5/10)

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear, but they're pretty even with no serious buzzing issues, 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 11/49s.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
