Greco EG500, black, made in Japan Feb 1978. This looks pretty classy, no? This dates to around the time when Greco's Gibson copies were getting so good it was beginning to attract legal attention. The quality of build on offer is outstanding: excellent fretwork, perfect finish, great neck shape... it really does inspire confidence in the hands. The Maxon-made U-1000 pickups are a pretty sweet PAF replica with a lovely open midrange and punchy articulate attack. The black and cream finish is super classy, especially with some aging on the plastics and binding and bit of natural play wear... delicious. This will very likely outshine many far pricier guitars with it's understated excellence... just the kind of thing we like around here.

Model: Greco EG500
Made: 1978, Japan (serial B788119)
Finish: gloss black
Body: maple top, mahogany body, chambered
Neck: mahogany with rosewood board, 24.75" scale, 12" radius
Weight: 3.960kg

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's a couple of nicks on the end of the headstock. Neck is pretty clean with minor dimples only. The back has some scuffs and scratches around the place but nothing nasty. The sides have no major marks, just some little chips and dimples on the shoulder and around from the jack. The front is pretty clean, just a couple of dimples near the knobs and some normal play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Frets have some minor wear but they're in great shape, 8/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
